Buenos Aires, Nov 22 (EFE) .- The Buenos Aires Prosecutor's Office is requesting preventive detention for the executive director of Uber Argentina, Mariano Xavier Otero, considering that there is "risk of flight" and that could hinder the cause that investigates your company for tax evasion, informed Efe judicial sources today.
In mid-November, the Government Administration of Public Income (AGIP) established that Uber evaded 1,044,659.27 pesos (about 59,700 dollars, at the current exchange rate) in taxes on gross income corresponding to the fiscal year 2016.
After that, the prosecutor in the case, Martín Lapadú, had requested the preventive admission to prison of Otero, who, like the passenger transport company, is accused of crime of "aggravated tax evasion".
The prosecutor made this request considering that there is a risk of leakage and of obstruction of the investigation.
However, this Tuesday, the head of the Criminal, Conventional and Misdemeanors Court number 21, Cristina Lara, granted "unrestricted liberty" to the accused.
In statements to Efe, Lapadú revealed that in the next few days will appeal "in all its terms" said judicial decision.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, which investigated the case together with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Corps of Judicial Investigations (CIJ), the company had a network of foreign and national companies to cover the financial circuit and thus be able to evade taxes.
Lapadú insisted that despite the fact that the transport company has "a year ago" with a national blockade in the application for mobiles and computers, it has not yet closed.
In addition, said that in the coming days will request new hearings to assess the "procedural risks" of the rest of the members of the company charged in the case.
