Brussels, Nov 17 (EFE) .- Production in the construction sector fell by 0.4% in the European Union (EU) in September compared to August, while in the eurozone rose 0.1 As reported by the office of community statistics, Eurostat.

During the eighth month of 2017, the indicator remained stable in the nineteen countries that share the single currency and decreased by 0.2% in the Twenty-eight.

If the year-on-year comparison is made, production in construction increased by 3.1% in the euro area and 2.6% in the whole EU in September compared to the same month in 2016.

The monthly increase of 0.1% in the euro area was due to the 0.2% rise in the construction of buildings and the fact that civil engineering was remained unchanged.

In the Twenty-eight, the drop of 0.4% responded to the 0.7% drop in building construction, while civil engineering grew 0.1 %.

Among the countries for which Eurostat offered data, Slovenia (4%) and the Netherlands (1.1%) led the increases, in contrast to the largest decreases in Romania (4.6%) and Slovakia (2.4%).

In Spain, the indicator grew by 0.7%, the third largest increase in the euro area and the whole of the community club.

By country, the most significant increases took place in Hungary (23.8%), Poland ( Slovenia (7%) and Sweden (6.8%), while setbacks were detected in Romania (13.5%), the United Kingdom (1.4%) and Belgium (0.4%).
