San Juan, November 17 (EFE) .- A new breakdown in the infrastructures of the state Electric Power Authority (AEE), the third in recent days, caused the interruption of the service in sectors of the metropolitan area of the capital of Puerto Rico, territory seriously affected by the passage of Hurricane Maria in September.
"Unit 8 of the same Central was outside yesterday and continues out of service. and we work to reach the established goals ", informed the AEE on Twitter about the damage.
The executive director of the AEE, Ricardo Ramos, also spoke on the matter for clarify that the units 7 and 8 of the Central de San Juan suffered technical problems, cause of the blackouts in the metropolitan area of the Puerto Rican capital.
"They are boiler breakdowns and one of fuel pressure entering the boiler. that PREPA staff works to restore electrical service as soon as possible.
Today's is the third consecutive breakdown at Central San Juan, which has caused problems in the electric service in the metropolitan area of San Juan.
Last Wednesday the problems began with a blackout that affected areas between the municipalities of Manatí and Carolina.
Almost two months after Hurricane Maria passed through Puerto Rico, PREPA today assures that the generation reaches 43%.
The Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló established goals that included 30% of electricity generation for October 30 and 50% for November 15, as part of an ambitious plan that provides that 95% of the generation will be reached next December 15.
Hurricane Maria crossed Puerto Rico on September 20 destroying its infrastructure, especially the electric, in the hands of state-owned AEE, a company that is being supported in the restoration of service by US federal agencies.
