Santiago de Chile, Nov 22 (EFE) .- Chile signed today the framework agreement by which this country will be incorporated as an official member to the International Solar Alliance, a project promoted by France and India, with which the developed nations are to transfer technology and financing to the developing States.
"Participating in this alliance will allow exchange experience, know good practices, bring information that allows us to make better public policies and regulations, and also be able to share our own experience, "he said. means the Minister of Energy of Chile, Andrés Rebolledo.
In a ceremony that was attended by the ambassadors in the southern country of France, Caroline Dumas, and India, Anita Nayar, the minister valued the management of the Government of Michelle Bachelet when making a transition towards non-conventional renewable energies, which will generate "a legacy for the future. "
Dumas stressed that it seemed" totally natural "for Chile to join the alliance, so they tried to advance the signing of the agreement and congratulated Chile for being part of the alliance and for the fulfillment of goals more "advanced" than those planned.
Nayar also congratulated Chile for being part of the alliance and indicated that the reason for joining is in the formation of a network "of countries, projects, knowledge and technology that can be shared and learned by everyone in the process to adopt solar energy".
"Chile is one of the leaders in the adoption of alternative uses of energy and attention to the environment, I welcome you as a member and I hope you look beyond what this means agreement, thank you for joining us, "added Nayar.
Minister Rebolledo emphasized that solar energy in particular" has been the protagonist and will be more so in the future "and that the boom of this type of energy could be cataloged as a "solar revolution".
The authority said it would be a change "so deep" that it would generate "very big challenges for the next 20 years ", as the need to deepen the incorporation of renewable energies and their regulations or the change to an energy model based on electricity.
Others challenges, he added, will be to advance in the generation of electricity distributed throughout the country in companies of different sizes and in homes and improve integration with other countries, especially with Peru and Argentina.
Regarding the launch Tuesday of a new national electricity system that can supply energy to 97% of the Chilean population and that extends for 3,100 kilometers, Rebolledo said that having an uninterrupted system from Arica to Chiloé is "a milestone in the history of the national electricity system."
"It's something that It was a longing that existed for many years in our country and finally yesterday we made it concrete. if necessary in some kind of urgency, and also more competitive to be able to transport energy through the country. "
The International Solar Alliance is a cooperation platform between developed countries that have solar technology and those that are developing between the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn that want to develop their potential in the sector.
This initiative, born in the framework of the Paris Summit of 2015, has, according to the French ambassador, the support of 80 countries and 15 countries that have already ratified the framework agreement of the alliance.
